The Fraunhofer Project Center for Advanced Manufacturing (FPC@ITA) is a joint venture between the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA) in São José dos Campos, Brazil, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology IPK in Berlin, Germany. The FPC@ITA is based within the facilities of the Competence Center for Manufacturing (CCM) at ITA.

The FPC@ITA aims at the joint acquisition and implementation of industrial and public-funded research, development and innovation (RD&I) projects between Fraunhofer IPK and ITA, through the supplementation of competences from both Institutions. By combining Fraunhofer’s latest global technologies and ITA’s strengths in aerospace and mechanical engineering, the FPC@ITA proactively addresses the needs of the industry partners in Brazil.

The overall objectives are derived from the high-level political strategy for the Brazilian innovation system and aligned with the objectives of the Brazilian Government and of the Technological Institute of Aeronautics. Furthermore, the objectives of the FPC@ITA are also aligned with the objectives of the Fraunhofer Society for internationalization of Fraunhofer through the cooperation with the best, given the reputation of ITA as engineering school in Brazil.
