The Fraunhofer Project Center for Advanced Manufacturing at ITA was present at EXPOMAFE 2019, represented by researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology IPK and the Competence Center in Manufacturing from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (CCM-ITA).
EXPOMAFE is the largest and most modern trade fair for the metalworking industry in Latin America. The 2019 edition of this initiative from the Brazilian Machinery and Equipment Builders’ Association (ABIMAQ) took place from 7th to 11th May at São Paulo Expo and brought together more than 750 Brazilian and international exhibitor brands as well as 55 thousand professionals from the sector.
Dr.-Ing. David Domingos, Managing Director FPC@ITA, and Dr.-Ing. Sascha Reinkober, Head of the Department Manufacturing Technologies at Fraunhofer IPK, conducted a presentation at the “Parque de Ideias” showing use cases of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and how the Digitalization Process helps industries to reduce costs and shorten production times. The visitors also had the opportunity to interact with Prof. Dr. Ronnie Rego, Deputy Managing Director FPC@ITA, during his speech about collaborative applied RD&I. The discussion was focused on mechanisms to create consortial projects where industrial companies can share the development risks in pre-competitive research scenarios.
FPC@ITA is in close contact with its industry partners in Brazil to proactively address their needs and challenges in the fields training, consulting and R&D projects on Advanced Manufacturing topics.
