The Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology IPK in Berlin, in partnership with the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH) in São Paulo and the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA) in São José dos Campos, held on February 12th 2019 the International Industry Workshop on Advanced Manufacturing Technologies.

The workshop carried out in São Paulo offered free admissions to a limited number of participants and achieved success on the number of registrations, engaging 54 participants from 17 companies, 8 institutes and 1 funding agency.

With the participation of international experts in the area, the event was conducted in English and Portuguese. Among the speakers from both countries were industry representatives, entrepreneurs and specialists on funding and incentive programs for R&D activities.

The workshop aimed to foster research and development (R&D) partnerships and strategic cooperation between academia and industry in global markets. The event presented the latest international technology trends for the Brazilian industry in the field of advanced manufacturing and also demonstrated practical project examples and success stories in terms of international initiatives. The main objective of this event was to promote a discussion about strategic technological topics in order to identify opportunities and trigger joint RD&I projects (Brazil-Germany).

The agenda was divided into 4 panels and addressed technologies in advanced manufacturing for the industries of oil & gas, energy, aerospace and materials. Further appoached topics among the panels were international initiatives in research, development and innovation (RD&I), as well as entrepreneurship in industry 4.0.
